The 2010 Finale in Port Stephens is only days away!
Race 4 - Fingal Bay, 13 March 2010

With only days remaining until the last Paddy Pallin Adventure for the 2009/10 competitors are starting to switch to race mode, pouring over their gear, tinkering with the bike setup and even possibly tapering their training. Just dont forget the best part - carbo loading!

The first participant email has been sent out - if you didn't receive it you can read it here. The schedule and the mandatory gear requirements are all up on the website.

Team lists are available on the website - check out who you are racing against!!

Additional Important Information:

1.   Don't forget that all teams (both Classic and Novice) are required to have a tie-down strap that is 1m-1.5m long for securing a kayak to a buoy. Ensure that is secure and will hold when you aren't in your kayak! These can be found at any good camping (such as Paddy Pallin!), auto or hardware store.

2.    All teams on both the Classic and Novice courses will be required to wear their helmets for the entire course. That includes all running, kayaking, biking and swimming sections. Yep thats right there will be a dog paddle or two along the way!! This means that Classic teams dropping their bikes at the Bike Drop SHOULD NOT LEAVE THEIR HELMETS. Bring them with you to the Event Hub/registration!  ALL TEAMS MUST HAVE THEIR HELMETS WITH THEM AT THE START.

3.    If you havent figured out it by now, it'll be a bit a sandy around Port Stephens and there will be quite a bit of riding on sandy trails.  We suggest that you don't have high pressure slicks on your bike. We certainly recommend some low pressure MTB tyres - but still pumped up hard enough that you don't get pinch flats.

4.   With sand also comes chauffage, takes measures to avoid it and your race experience will be a whole lot more enjoyable! Make use of some good ol' vasoline or specific anti-chaff sticks such as Body Glide. Some might not like the look but tight clothing, especially running tights or knicks can also help.

Volunteers

We are looking for some more volunteers for this event.  If you have a friend or family member that really wants to get in amongst the action then we would love to hear from them.  Aside from having fun and seeing how it all works behind the scenes volunteers receive a voucher to be used towards any AROC race, a limited edition, volunteer only yellow shirt, lunch and esteemed company of your fellow volunteers. If you’re keen to put your hand up or know of a friend of family member who is send Dave an email and we’ll welcome you with open arms!
