All roads lead to Port Stephens! Race 4 - Fingal Bay, 13 March 2010
For the final Paddy Pallin Adventure Race of the 2009/10 series racers will head to the beautiful Port Stephens region of NSW. Tom has set a sweet course that takes in the best that the area has to offer - the amazing coast line with some unforgettable coasteering, ocean paddling, some running terrain not be missed and possibly the odd nudist! Being a coastal race you might end up with some sand in your jocks but we promise you won't notice as you'll be having way too much fun! Entries are still available until Tuesday 9th March. Bait those friends you’ve been wanting to introduce to AR or challenge your workmates now before they miss out. Enter them here!
The Event Hub, located at Fingal Bay Oval, Fingal Bay, will be home to the registration for both the Classic and Novice courses. Each course has a different bike drop. The classic bike drop will be at the intersection of Kingsley Dr and Noamunga St, Boat Harbour. This will open from 7.00am. The novice bike drop will be 600m south of Fingal Bay Oval on Marine Dr and opens at 8.00am. The starts for both courses will be secret until you receive your maps at registration.
The Event Hub will be a hive of activity. AROC Staff know the importance of a good caffeine fix and we have secured the Hunter's finest mobile baristas, Newcastle Mobile Coffee, who will be frothing the milk from 7am. The Soldiers Pt. Lions Clubs will be cooking up a storm on the BBQ. To help cool the body after your race there will also be an ice cream van on hand. Our series sponsors will be there - The Gu hydration drums will be at the finish supplemented by Red Bull energy drink. Paddy Pallin will have a store with heaps of goodies to check out and some great specials (see below) - so bring your credit card! Salomon will be set up next to the Paddy Pallin store with a display of adventure racing shoes and back packs. There will also be AROC t-shirts, hats and buffs.
Take your adventures further. If you want to travel to exotic destinations AND make a difference make some time to chat with Adam from World Expeditions about Community Project Travel. Take 3-4 days out of your adventure to build a school, a bridge or a renewable water source that benefits a less fortunate community.

Red Bull Energy Shot Energy Station
Red Bull will be out on the course giving you the wings you need to fly to the finish! At a location common to both the Novice and Classic courses will be the Red Bull girls with Red Bull 'Energy Shots'. Energy Shots give you a sustained boost in just one sip! The location will be included in the race instructions.
Mandatory Equipment & Gear Tips
Each team is required to bring a tie down or buckle to secure their kayak to a buoy. Rope will not be sufficient, bring something that has a secure holding system. This will make your kayak more secure and be easier (and quicker) for you to manage.
You must have all the mandatory equipment with you for the entire race. You will be getting wet so be sure to drop into your local Paddy Pallin store for a water proof dry sack to keep both your maps and important items such as your phone dry! We recommend also using a zip lock bag inside the dry sack for added protection. Contacting your maps is also a good idea, but DO NOT contact your control card, this is already printed on waterproof material.
Accommodation
If you still haven't organised you accommodation for the weekend make sure you check out the specials on the Paddy Pallin ARS site then contact Port Stephens Holiday Parks or Samurai Beach Resort directly.

AROC races are so enjoyable thanks to the great volunteers that come along and help us. Aside from having fun and seeing how it all works behind the scenes volunteers receive a voucher to be used towards any AROC race, a limited edition, volunteer only yellow shirt, lunch and esteemed company of your fellow volunteers.
